Introduction

NFC Type 4 Tag device combining a contactless NFC/RFID interface with a wired I2C interface for host connectivity. NDEF messages can be read and written via the integrated I2C serial communication interface, or accessed and updated contactlessly via the integrated ISO/IEC 14443 Type B RF interface supporting speeds up to 848kbps. The device responds to NFC Type 4 commands on demand from the host controller, storing only a portion of the NDEF message in its buffer at a time. This means NDEF message size is limited only by the host controller's memory capacity and specification constraints. The device supports read buffering, prefetch, and write auto-acknowledge features to improve data throughput. The device leverages simple and intuitive NFC Connection Handover as an alternative to carrier mode, enabling pairing or authentication for Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), or Wi-Fi with a single tap. As a common NFC interface, it enables end devices to communicate with the rapidly growing ecosystem of NFC-enabled smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
