Introduction

The ATA5577C is a contactless read/write identification IC operating at 125 kHz or 134 kHz. A single coil connected to the chip provides power and serves as a bidirectional communication interface. The antenna and chip together form a transponder or tag. The 363-bit on-chip EEPROM is accessed by a base station in block-based read/write operations. The chip transmits data uplink via load modulation by connecting a resistive load across the two coil terminals to damp the RF field. It can receive and decode serial commands from the base station; these downlink commands use a 100% amplitude-modulated OOK pulse-interval-encoded bitstream format.
