Introduction

The ESP32 WiFi and Bluetooth chip is the latest generation product from Espressif. It features a dual-core 32-bit MCU with integrated WiFi HT40 and Bluetooth/BLE 4.2. Compared to the previous-generation Arduino ESP8266, the ESP32 delivers a significant performance improvement. It is equipped with a high-performance dual-core Tensilica LX6 MCU — one core handles high-speed connectivity while the other is dedicated to independent application development. The dual-core MCU operates at 240 MHz with 600 DMIPS of computing power. It also supports Wi-Fi HT40, Classic Bluetooth/BLE 4.2, and provides more GPIO resources.

The ESP32 integrates a rich set of hardware peripherals, including capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, low-noise sensor amplifiers, SD card interface, Ethernet interface, high-speed SDIO/SPI, UART, I2S, and I2C. To meet the demands of mobile devices, wearable electronics, and IoT applications, the ESP32 achieves ultra-low power consumption through a combination of proprietary software applications. Advanced power-saving features include fine-resolution clock gating, power modes, and dynamic power scaling.
