Introduction

The AN2340 module is a 2.4 GHz wireless microcontroller based on the TI CC2340, targeting applications including Bluetooth 5.3 Low Energy, Zigbee, IEEE 802.15.4, and proprietary 2.4 GHz systems. The device is optimized for low-power wireless communication and supports on-chip dual-image OTA updates, making it suitable for building automation, asset tracking, medical, retail point-of-sale, electronic shelf labels, and personal electronics markets. Key features include: Bluetooth 5 capabilities such as LE Coded PHY, LE 2-Mbit PHY, advertising extensions, multiple advertising sets, CSA#2, and direction finding, along with backward compatibility and support for key features of Bluetooth 4.2 and earlier Low Energy specifications; a fully certified Bluetooth 5.3 software stack provided with the SimpleLink CC23xx SDK; Bluetooth Mesh support; Zigbee stack support in the SimpleLink CC23x0Rx SDK; ultra-low standby current of 0.7 μA with real-time clock operation and full RAM retention for significantly extended battery life, particularly suited for applications with long sleep intervals; extremely low average RF current in duty-cycled BLE applications, with an average RF current of approximately 6 μA in a BLE connection at 0 dBm output power and 1-second connection interval; and excellent RF sensitivity and robustness.
