The ESP-M2 WiFi module is built on the high-performance ESP8266 chip. This compact chip integrates an enhanced Tensilica L106 Diamond Series 32-bit core CPU and SRAM. As a result, the ESP8266 features full Wi-Fi functionality and can be used as a standalone device or as a slave device alongside another host CPU. When operating as a slave, the ESP8266 can boot from on-board flash memory. The built-in cache not only helps improve system performance but also optimizes the memory subsystem. Furthermore, via SPI/SDIO or I2C/UART interfaces, the ESP-M2 WiFi module can serve as a Wi-Fi adapter for use in other MCU-based designs.
The ESP-M2 WiFi module supports the standard IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/e/i protocol and a complete TCP/IP stack. Users can leverage it to add Wi-Fi capability to existing devices or treat it as a standalone network controller. In summary, the ESP-M2 module delivers a wide range of possibilities at an optimal price point.
