Introduction

The AWR1443 device is an integrated single-chip FMCW radar sensor capable of operating in the 76 to 81GHz band. Built using a low-power 45nm RFCMOS process, it features an integrated ARM R4F processor and a hardware accelerator for radar data processing, achieving unprecedented levels of integration in an extremely compact package. The AWR1443 is the ideal solution for low-power, self-monitoring, ultra-precise radar systems in automotive applications.

The AWR1443 device is a self-contained FMCW radar sensor single-chip solution that simplifies automotive radar sensor implementation in the 76 to 81GHz band. It realizes a monolithic 3TX, 4RX system with built-in PLL and ADC. Simple programming model changes support a variety of sensor implementations (short-range, mid-range, and long-range) with dynamic reconfiguration capability, enabling multi-mode sensor operation. The device is also offered as a complete platform solution that includes hardware reference designs, software drivers, sample configurations, API guides, and user documentation.

Different applications place varying demands on radar devices in terms of radar data memory cube, processing capability, functional safety monitoring, and power supply requirements. In this context, the AWR1443 can be regarded as a 77GHz radar-on-chip solution for entry-level radar applications.
