Introduction

The CC2538xFnn is an ideal wireless microcontroller system-on-chip (SoC) for high-performance ZigBee applications. This device incorporates a powerful MCU system based on ARM Cortex M3, featuring up to 32KB of on-chip RAM, up to 512KB of on-chip flash memory, and reliable IEEE 802.15.4 radio frequency capabilities. This enables the device to handle complex network protocol stacks involving security, demanding applications, and wireless downloads. Thirty-two general-purpose input and output (GPIO) pins and a serial peripheral interface allow for easy connection to other parts of the circuit board. A powerful hardware security accelerator can perform fast and efficient authentication and encryption while the CPU handles application tasks. Multiple low-power modes with retention capabilities enable quick wake-up from sleep states and significantly reduce energy consumption when executing periodic tasks. To facilitate smooth development, the CC2538xFnn includes a powerful debugging system and a comprehensive driver library. To reduce the application flash package size, the CC2538xFnn ROM contains a utility function library and a serial boot loader.
