Introduction
The SD3502 Z-Wave chip is a complete wireless solution for home control, home security monitoring, home energy management, and audio/video control. It integrates a multi-band, multi-channel, multi-rate RF transceiver, an 8051 microcontroller, a comprehensive set of peripherals, SRAM, 128k bytes of Flash memory, and non-volatile data memory shared between user applications and the Z-Wave protocol. With its patented multi-channel support and excellent interference immunity, the SD3502 delivers superior robustness. The Z-Wave system employs frequency agility, frame acknowledgment, retransmission, collision avoidance, frame checksum verification, and sophisticated mesh routing to ensure reliable whole-home coverage. Products based on the SD3502 are fully interoperable with existing Z-Wave solutions. The SD3502 provides ultra-low power consumption over a wide supply voltage range (down to 2.3V), enabling multi-year operation from just two AAA batteries. It supports advanced battery-powered applications in networks with an average current of only 50 µA. With an integrated hardware key matrix scanner, on-chip IR encoding support, IR learning capability, low-power design, and advanced power management, the SD3502 is ideally suited for general-purpose and metadata remote controls requiring low cost and battery life of several years. Its integrated full-speed USB 2.0 interface reduces the cost of integrating Z-Wave into PC designs, PDAs, smartphones, and other peripherals. The UART and SPI interfaces on the SD3502 further simplify integration into other host devices such as consumer electronics and audio/video equipment. The SD3502 features a high-performance AES-128 hardware processor and a hardware random number generator, fully compatible with the security solution in Z-Wave. The SD3502 provides four PWM interfaces for connecting external LED drivers.
