Introduction

SSP721A is a chip transceiver compliant with the meter bus standard (ENI434-3). The internal interface circuit accommodates different voltage levels between master and slave devices in a meter bus architecture. The bus connection is non-polarized and supports full galvanic isolation between the master and slave via optocoupler. The chip can be powered directly from the bus without adding power demand to slave devices, and features a built-in bus voltage fault indicator. The receiver incorporates dynamic level detection, and the transmitter features a programmable current sink. An on-chip 3.3V voltage regulator is integrated, with a delayed shutdown upon bus fault. This circuit is widely used in M-BUS remote meter reading, security systems, smart home, and related applications.
