Introduction

The ADMV8818-EP is a fully monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) with digitally selectable operating frequencies. The device features four independently controlled high-pass filters (HPFs) and four independently controlled low-pass filters (LPFs), covering a frequency range of 2 GHz to 18 GHz.

The flexible architecture of the ADMV8818-EP allows the 3 dB cutoff frequencies (f3dB) of the high-pass and low-pass filters to be independently controlled to generate bandwidths of up to 4 GHz. The digital logic control on each filter is 4 bits wide (16 states) and controls on-chip reactive elements to adjust f3dB. Typical insertion loss of 9 dB and broadband rejection of 35 dB make it well suited for minimizing system harmonics.

This tunable filter serves as a more compact alternative to large switched filter banks and cavity tunable filters, and the device provides a dynamically tunable solution for advanced communications applications.
