Introduction

The CMX994/CMX994A/CMX994E/CMX994G is a family of direct conversion receiver ICs using PowerTrade technology, enabling dynamic selection between power consumption and performance modes to optimize operational trade-offs. All four devices incorporate a wideband low noise amplifier with gain control, followed by a high dynamic range, very high IIP2 I/Q demodulator. The receiver baseband section includes amplifiers and baseband filter stages with precise, configurable bandwidth. The local oscillator signal is provided by an integer-N PLL and VCO negative resistance amplifier; an external local oscillator may also be used. The LO divider is designed for flexible multi-band operation. The device family operates from a single 3.3V supply, over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, and is housed in a compact 40-pin VQFN package. Compared to the CMX994, the CMX994A achieves significantly reduced power consumption by allowing the LO phase correction to be disabled. Power consumption can be further reduced by disabling the I or Q channel in channel monitoring mode. The CMX994E incorporates all the features of the CMX994A, with the addition of an enhanced performance mode to improve receive mixer intermodulation performance. The CMX994G is introduced for radio equipment operating at frequencies down to 30MHz, with guaranteed downconverter performance. Throughout this datasheet, unless otherwise stated, descriptions and characteristics given for the CMX994E apply equally to the CMX994G.
