Introduction

The HMC905LP3E is a SiGe BiCMOS low-noise programmable frequency divider in a 3x3 mm leadless surface-mount package. This circuit can be programmed to set the division ratio from N = 1 to N = 4 within the input frequency range of 400 MHz to 6 GHz. The high output power (up to 6 dBm single-ended), extremely low single-sideband phase noise, and 50% duty cycle make this device ideal for low-noise clock generation, local oscillator generation, and local oscillator drive applications. Configurable bias and output power control allow adjustment of current consumption and output power. The device features a power-down function, good input-to-output isolation, and fast start-up time. The HMC905LP3E can be used in fast-switching "ping-pong" applications.
