Introduction

The DC - 7 GHz Fractional-N Divider is a fractional frequency divider designed for fractional-N frequency synthesis and standalone low-noise frequency division applications requiring excellent spurious performance. Fabricated in SiGe BiCMOS process, it features a 48-bit Delta Sigma modulator (DSM) with programmable phase accumulator size, enabling precise control of frequency step size and resolution. The integrated DSM can generate frequencies with near-zero Hz frequency error. The DSM also includes built-in programmable frequency sweep functionality, offering multiple automatic and user-defined sweep modes and trigger options, including a hardware trigger pin or SPI trigger with optional delay triggering.

The DC - 7 GHz Fractional-N Divider is a versatile component capable of multiple configurations. It features 5 general-purpose I/Os (GPIOs). The DSM output is accessible via the GPIO ports, enabling the DC - 7 GHz Fractional-N Divider to import and/or export DSM sequences for various configuration options. The divider output is differential, open-collector with programmable current to accommodate different off-chip loads.
