The GWLA.01 GPS/GALILEO / 2.4GHz Embedded Loop Antenna is a high-efficiency, miniature SMD, edge-mount ceramic antenna for GPS/GALILEO and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, WLAN, ZigBee, Bluetooth, and 802.11 applications. It is particularly suited for PCB designs with limited space. The antenna can be used by customers for GPS/GALILEO and 2.4GHz (WiFi or Bluetooth) modules. Rather than using two separate chip antennas, the GWLA.01 features two independent feed lines — one for GPS/GALILEO and one for 2.4GHz — making it an ideal solution for space-constrained PCB applications. The GWLA.01 uses the main PCB as its ground plane, maintaining good efficiency despite its compact size. It can be tuned for different PCB sizes/environments by simply changing the values of the matching circuit. It is ideally mounted at the center edge of the ground plane.
Measuring 3.21.60.5 mm, the GWLA.01 is one of the smallest combined embedded antennas available worldwide. This antenna is delivered in tape and reel form.
Typical Applications – Where simultaneous GPS/GALILEO and 2.4GHz operation is required
Many module manufacturers specify peak gain limits for any antenna connected to the module. These peak gain limits are based on free-space conditions. In practice, the peak gain of an antenna tested in free space will decrease by at least 1 or 2 dBi when installed in a device. Therefore, ideally you should select an antenna with a slightly higher peak gain than specified in the module's specifications to compensate for this effect and achieve better performance.
