PCB Layout:

• The antenna is designed for optimal performance when mounted on a ground plane.
• No ground keepout area is required beneath the antenna.
• Add vias in multilayer PCBs to connect ground regions.
• Ensure ground clearance on all PCB layers around the NC pad and RF feed pad.
• Place the antenna along one side of the PCB ground plane with pin 1 as close to the layout corner as possible.
• Implement a π matching network to compensate for impedance mismatch in actual implementations.

Evaluation Board Profile and Matching Circuit:

• The evaluation board has a size of 100 X 50 mm and includes an SMA connector.
• A matching circuit is implemented adjacent to the antenna.
• Component values are set to C1 = 1.5 nH, C2 = 0.5 pF, C3 = N/A.
• Tuning can be adjusted to compensate for resonant frequency shifts in actual implementations.

General Implementation Guidelines:

• Align the antenna with the PCB edge whenever possible.
• Align pins 1 & 2 along the outer edge of the PCB, preferably near a corner.
• Small electrical components may be placed within the antenna keepout area.
• Distribute surrounding electrical components beneath the terrain slope starting from the antenna keepout area.
• Plastic and metal components near the antenna may affect antenna tuning and/or performance.
• Measure the antenna after implementation in the actual device.
