Test Equipment:

• Calibrate the VNA at the feed point of the calibration test board using a single-path reflection calibration sequence.
• The test board dimensions and layout are identical to Figure 1.

• Ground plane area
• Clearance area
• Antenna placement: The antenna should be placed at the PCB edge in an area free of bottom-layer ground plane, oriented as shown above. The ground plane area surrounding the antenna should maintain a minimum clearance of 3mm.
• 2.4GHz module placement: To minimize losses in the microstrip line, the module should be placed as close to the antenna as possible.
• Microstrip line: Microstrip line impedance must be tuned to 50 ohms according to your specific PCB (see Figure 2). No crossing microstrip lines are permitted between the microstrip line and its ground plane.
• PCB via connections: To avoid parasitic effects, via connections must be connected to analog ground. Via connections depend on the PCB layout design. Figure 2 is for reference only.
• Component matching: Component values depend on antenna placement, PCB dimensions, and the positions of other components. PCB dimensions and antenna placement affect the antenna frequency.
• DC blocking: DC blocking may be required depending on the RF module or chip hardware design.
• Clearance: No components are permitted within the clearance area; minimum distance from other components is 3mm.
