Introduction

SKY66005-11 is a fully matched, linear power amplifier surface-mount module designed for WCDMA applications operating in the 850 to 920 MHz frequency range. The device meets the stringent spectral linearity requirements of WCDMA femtocell applications while delivering high power-added efficiency. An integrated directional coupler eliminates the need for any external coupling components. The GaAs MMIC contains all active amplifier circuitry, including input and interstage matching networks. The 50 Ω output matching, implemented off-chip within the module package, optimizes efficiency and power performance. The device is fabricated using an InGaP GaAs HBT process, supporting all-positive-voltage DC supply while maintaining high efficiency and good linearity. The primary bias can be supplied directly from any suitable power source with a 4.2 V output. Power-down is achieved by setting the VEN pin to 0 V. No external power-side switch is required, as the typical "off-state" leakage current is only a few microamps when the full supply voltage is applied from the primary supply. The device is housed in a 10-pin, 3×3 mm multi-chip module package, offering a highly manufacturable, low-cost solution.
