Introduction

LMH2832 is a high-linearity dual-channel digital variable gain amplifier (DVGA) designed for high-speed signal chains and data acquisition systems. The LMH2832 has been optimized for high bandwidth, low distortion, and low noise, making it an ideal driver for dual 14-bit ADCs. The device incorporates a fixed-gain block and a variable attenuator, providing a total gain of 30dB with a maximum attenuation of 39dB. The gain range is –9dB to 30dB with a 1dB gain step and ±0.2dB gain accuracy. Input impedance can be easily matched to 50Ω or 75Ω systems using 1:3Ω or 1:2Ω ratio balun transformers, respectively. The LMH2832 is designed to drive general-purpose ADCs and meets the requirements of DOCSIS 3.0 32-QAM carrier and DOCSIS 3.1 wideband OFDM systems. With excellent NF (6.5dB) and linearity, the LMH2832 operates in compliance with DOCSIS specifications. Quiescent current in power-down mode is less than 5mA per channel, while typical operating current consumption is 105mA per channel.
