Introduction
APSEMI optical relays are reliable, technically advanced logic-to-power interface devices. Their fundamental function is to receive low-current signals from microprocessors to control switching of AC and DC loads, while providing an isolation barrier between logic and power. Although this function is common to all relays, optical relays offer significant advantages over their mechanical counterparts, including: unlimited service life (no mechanical or electrical life limitations), bounce-free switching, higher speed and high-frequency switching capability, greater sensitivity (lower power consumption), and immunity to EMI or RFI.
