Introduction

The CPC1560 is a 1-Form-A (single-pole normally open) optically isolated MOSFET switch that can quickly turn on loads up to 600 mA in DC-only configurations and 300 mA RMS in AC/DC configurations. It features an active current limiting circuit and provides 3750 V RMS of I/O isolation. Fast turn-on is achieved by using an external energy storage capacitor, which supplies the necessary charge to the internal switching MOSFET. The device charges this capacitor from the load voltage via a bootstrap diode, eliminating the need for an additional power supply. The CPC1560 integrates a thermal shutdown circuit to enhance survivability in harsh environments and, when provided with appropriate overvoltage protection circuitry, is designed to meet regulatory voltage surge requirements. The CPC1560 is designed for demanding AC or DC applications where printed circuit board space is at a premium and an additional power supply cannot be provided, making it an ideal solution.
