Introduction

This series of products utilizes OptoMOS technology, offering high reliability and a compact form factor. As a member of this series, the CPC1979J is a single-pole single-throw normally open solid-state power relay rated for 3.5Aᵣₘₛ continuous load current when used with a 5°C/W heatsink. It employs optically coupled MOSFET technology to provide 2500Vᵣₘₛ input-output isolation. The optically coupled output features a patented OptoMOS architecture controlled by a high-efficiency infrared LED. The combination of low on-resistance and high load current handling capability makes it suitable for a wide range of high-performance switching applications. The unique ISOPLUS-264 package enables the solid-state relay to achieve the highest possible load current and power ratings. This package uses a unique process in which the silicon die is soldered onto a direct bonded copper ceramic substrate rather than a conventional copper lead frame. The ceramic substrate not only provides 2500Vᵣₘₛ isolation, but also features an extremely low junction-to-case thermal impedance of 0.3°C/W.
