Introduction

APSEMI photoelectric relays are designed to switch AC and DC loads from microprocessor control while providing an isolation barrier between logic and power. Compared to mechanical relays, photoelectric relays offer the following distinct advantages: long service life (unlimited mechanical and electrical life), bounce-free switching, higher speed and high-frequency switching, higher sensitivity (lower power consumption), immunity to EMI or RFI, no arcing, bouncing, or noise, greater resistance to vibration and shock, AC or DC load switching capability, and compact package size. APSEMI photoelectric relays drive an input infrared LED with a low-level input current (<5 mA), which is optically coupled to a photodiode array to ultimately achieve the switching function. With no mechanical wear, consistent and reliable switching performance is ensured.
