Introduction

One of the challenges of using Seoul Acriche AC LEDs is dimmer compatibility. Inexpensive TRIAC dimmers are very common, and consumers expect Acriche-based luminaires to be compatible with standard dimmers. Incandescent lamp dimmers use simple semiconductor circuits to regulate purely resistive loads. Non-linear loads like Acriche produce behavior in dimmer circuits that is unfavorable for proper regulation of these LEDs. In many cases, even with the dimmer in the fully open position, only 75% of the power can be delivered. LUXdrive's 9005 DimRight™ easily solves this problem while preserving the driverless simplicity and reliability that makes Acriche an attractive solution. By connecting the 9005 DimRight™ module in parallel with one or more Acriche LEDs, proper dimming of Acriche LEDs across the full useful output range becomes achievable. No modifications to house wiring or dimmers are required. The module can be easily added to existing product designs with power consumption of less than 1/2W. This eliminates the need for expensive and complex circuitry to compensate for non-linear loads such as LEDs. The 9005 DimRight™ allows near-continuous utilization of AC power and improves the system's power factor. A single module is all that is needed to properly dim any number of Acriche LEDs connected in parallel. Operating voltage: 120V AC, ±10%, 200V peak maximum, 50/60Hz AC; Power consumption: less than 1/2W (typical 0.25W)
