Introduction

By popular customer request, these 14-segment LED backpacks are now available without LEDs. Driven by the HT16K33 I2C LED driver, they are simple and easy to use. With the companion library, you can get numbers and letters displaying in half an hour. If you've been eyeing matrix displays but held back by complexity, this is the solution you've been looking for. Like other LED backpacks, these can be stacked end-to-end, and by soldering the address jumpers on the back, up to 8 backpacks can share two I2C lines. The product includes a fully tested and assembled LED backpack and a 4-pin header. Some simple soldering is required to attach the header and display. A set of two 2-digit, 0.54" tall alphanumeric displays is NOT included, though many options are available in the store. Note that this backpack is only confirmed compatible with the displays in stock — other displays may not work and are not guaranteed.
