Introduction

TE Connectivity (TE) offers durable, weatherproof LUMAWISE ALR shorting caps and open caps, providing harsh environment protection for road, street, and area lighting fixtures. Shorting caps are typically used to protect NEMA twist-lock receptacles on outdoor luminaires prior to the installation of discrete or networked lighting controls. Additional applications include designating fixtures for maintenance, keeping lights continuously illuminated for safety purposes, or disconnecting service using open caps. The LUMAWISE ALR series shorting caps and open caps are rated IP54. The ALR-MC-10 shorting cap with integrated 545-joule metal oxide varistor (MOV) provides transient line surge protection for LED luminaires. The ANSI-referenced part description provides a device with a stepped housing as described in ANSI C136.10. This distinctive housing makes it easier for users to visually differentiate standard photocontrol devices from shorting caps or open caps. The product provides a safe, convenient, and cost-effective method for closing or opening the main circuit path on NEMA twist-lock receptacles of outdoor lighting fixtures. LUMAWISE Endurance N ALR shorting caps and open caps comply with C136.10 and are UL listed.
