Introduction

These chip-type LEDs utilize aluminum indium gallium phosphide (AlInGaP) material technology. AlInGaP material offers high luminous efficiency, capable of producing high-brightness output across a wide drive current range. This SMT series is available in 592nm amber, 605nm orange, 626nm red, and 639nm deep red. All packages except red and deep red are binned by color and intensity. These ChipLEDs are available in thin top-emitting packages (HSMx-C177/C197), side-emitting packages (HSMx-C120), or flip-chip packages (HSMx-C265). Right-angle ChipLEDs are suited for applications such as LCD backlighting. Wide-viewing-angle top-emitting ChipLEDs are suitable for light pipe applications and direct backlighting of keypads and panels. Flip-chip ChipLEDs are ideal for space-saving applications. For ease of pick-and-place operation, these ChipLEDs are shipped in tape-and-reel packaging — 4,000 units per reel for HSMx-C120/C177/C197 and 3,000 units per reel for HSMx-C265. These packages are compatible with infrared soldering processes.
