Introduction

Axetris infrared (IR) sources are micromachined, electrically modulated thermal IR emitters featuring true blackbody radiation characteristics, low power consumption, high emissivity, and long operational lifetime. Their design is based on a resistive heating element deposited on a thin dielectric membrane suspended over a micromachined silicon structure.
