Introduction

Stereo imaging systems often suffer degraded performance in scenes lacking texture, such as flat, smooth surfaces like walls. In such cases, the 3D information captured by stereo imaging systems is typically incomplete or inaccurate. Furthermore, searching for features within images generally results in high computational load.

ams has developed a unique proprietary solution to address this issue. The Belago1.1 infrared illuminator is the most compact dot projector currently available for stereo imaging. It produces a high-contrast dot pattern that stereo matching algorithms can leverage to mitigate the absence of texture and generate high-accuracy depth maps. The presence of the infrared pattern also significantly reduces the computational load on software, as it provides numerous features that facilitate left-right image matching.

The Belago1.1 enables active stereo imaging across a wide range of platforms, from robotics to mobile devices.
