Introduction

HDSP-253x series devices are ideal for applications requiring an aesthetically pleasing display of eight or more characters of dot matrix information. These devices are 8-digit, 5×7 dot matrix character displays. The 5.0 mm high characters are housed in a 0.300-inch 30-pin DIP package. Onboard CMOS ICs decode 128 ASCII characters permanently stored in ROM. Additionally, 16 programmable symbols can be stored in onboard RAM. Seven brightness levels provide flexibility for adjusting display brightness and power consumption. The HDSP-253x is designed for standard microprocessor interface technology. Display and special functions are accessed via a bidirectional 8-bit data bus.
