Introduction

Broadcom HCMS-29xx series are high-performance, easy-to-use dot matrix displays driven by on-board CMOS ICs. Each display interfaces directly with microprocessors, eliminating complex interface components. The serial IC interface enables high character count information display with minimal data lines. Multiple colors, character heights, and character counts give designers a wide range of product options for specific applications. The easy-to-read 5×7 pixel format supports uppercase letters, lowercase letters, katakana, and user-defined characters. These displays can be stacked in both X and Y directions, making them ideal for high character count applications.
