Introduction

This is a very clever way to produce light. Light in fiber optic cables travels through the core by continuously reflecting off the edges of the molded plastic — a principle known as "total internal reflection" (which also sounds a bit like a very expensive meditation island retreat). When total internal reflection doesn't occur in a light pipe, light escaping through the plastic tubing creates a clever illumination effect. All you need is a way to inject a large number of photons into the light pipe, and that's exactly what this product does! This is an adorable pink fiber optic light source. It is a high-power LED assembly requiring 9–12V at 100mA to operate, with a metal housing that doubles as a heat sink. Installation is effortless — simply loosen the clear knob on the LED emitter and insert one of our fiber optic tubes.
