Adafruit loves exploring unique glowing objects, and these flexible silicone neon-like LED strips are particularly appealing. They resemble neon lights but require no expensive transformers, glass tubes, or inert gases. This is an RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) non-addressable LED strip that uses a large piece of translucent silicone rubber as a diffuser — great looking, easy to use, and ready to make your project shine. The silicone construction provides a robust, weatherproof enclosure. While not guaranteed for submersion or prolonged outdoor exposure, it's suitable for outdoor projects such as costumes, bicycle lighting, or holiday decorations. The strip is 1 meter long with 5 wires: the black wire connects to +72V, while the red, green, blue, and yellow/white wires connect to ground to activate their respective colors. Supply 9V (bright) to 12V (very bright) and the strip begins to glow. Note that this is not a "NeoPixel" LED strip — you can switch each R, G, and B channel on or off to set the strip color, but individual LEDs cannot be controlled independently. An analog RGB LED strip control guide will demonstrate how it works: you'll need a microcontroller with 4 PWM outputs and either 4 N-MOSFETs or a ULN2803 to control the power for each R/G/B element.
