Introduction

At Adafruit, we love finding cool and unique light-up products. These new flexible silicone neon LED strips caught our attention immediately. They look just like neon lights, but require no expensive transformers, glass tubes, or inert gases. The strips are extremely flexible and bendable, built with single-color non-addressable LED strips and a solid translucent silicone rubber diffuser. They look stunning, are incredibly easy to use, and are a great way to illuminate your projects. The silicone construction forms a rugged, durable, weather-resistant housing. They are not suitable for submersion or prolonged outdoor exposure, but for projects that need to handle outdoor conditions — such as clothing, bike lighting, or holiday decorations — the durability appears more than adequate. You'll receive a 1-meter strip with two power leads. Supply anywhere from 9V (bright) to 12V (very bright!) and the strip lights right up. No soldering required! Simply connect via the 2.1mm DC power jack, plug into your standard 12V power supply, and enjoy the glow instantly. For portable use, try our 8x AA battery pack with NiMH rechargeable or alkaline batteries. Note that these are NOT 'NeoPixel' LED strips — you can only turn them on or off as a whole; individual LED control or color changing is not possible. You can cut the silicone housing and LED strip if desired, but doing so may damage one or two LEDs in the process.
