Introduction

This is a rather clever way to produce light. Light travels rapidly through the core of a fiber optic cable by continuously reflecting off the edges of the molded plastic — a principle known as "total internal reflection." When total internal reflection does not occur in a light guide, a striking lighting effect can be achieved from the light illuminating the plastic tube. All you need is a way to channel a large number of photons into the light guide, and that's exactly what this product is for! This is a cool white fiber optic light source. It is a high-power LED cluster requiring 9–12V and 100mA to operate, with a metal housing that acts as a heat sink. Installation is straightforward — simply loosen the clear knob on the LED emitter and insert one of our fiber optic tubes. Please note that this is the fiber optic LED only; a fiber optic tube is required separately.
