Introduction

These standard solid-state displays feature 7.4 mm dot matrix characters and integrate on-chip data memory latches/decoders and LED drivers, housed in glass/ceramic packages. The hermetically sealed HDSP-078x, -079x/-088x displays use glass solder sealing, while the HDSP-098X series employs epoxy glass-ceramic sealing. Numeric devices decode positive BCD logic into characters "0-9", minus sign "-", decimal point, and test patterns. Hexadecimal devices decode positive BCD logic into 16 characters "0-9, A-F". Hexadecimal devices provide an input that blanks the display (all LEDs off) without losing memory contents. Over-range devices display "±1" and right-hand decimal point, typically driven by external switching transistors.
