Introduction

This 8x8 LED matrix board integrates 64 individually addressable LEDs, each capable of producing 16 million colors, offering an excellent way to add a square light source to almost anything or even create custom-shaped displays. This product is a miniaturized version of our Lumenati LED series, using LEDs in a 2mm×2mm package instead of the 5mm×5mm package. This results in an extremely high pixel density, making the display appear less pixelated. The matrix board is powered and controlled through several pads on the back, including 5V and ground, a set of data input and clock input pads, and another set of data output and clock output pads. Since the matrix board operates like a string of LEDs, the LED index (or numbering) is arranged from left to right and bottom to top on the LED-facing side. The matrix board also features four breakaway mounting points that can be used to secure the board to a surface or project, or broken off for more complex designs. When the mounting points are removed, multiple matrix boards can be soldered together to form a larger display. Note: In large installations, a decoupling capacitor may need to be added between power and ground to prevent voltage drops when a large number of LEDs are illuminated simultaneously. A 4.7µF capacitor is recommended.
