Introduction

This guide walks you through building a handheld game console capable of running multiple games, including Snake. When Tiny Tetris first powers on, use the left and right buttons to select between Snake and a drawing program, then press the center button to launch the selected program. While inside a program, hold the center button and press the brightness adjustment button on the left to switch to the previous or next program. The guide covers all required components and tools — including the Adafruit Pro Trinket and PowerBoost 500 Charger — as well as 3D-printed enclosure setup and circuit wiring.

• HT16K33 drives a 16×8 LED matrix and reads a button matrix up to 13×3.
• HT16K33 refreshes the LED matrix at approximately 100Hz; within each 10ms frame, it first updates the display, then scans the button matrix.
• HT16K33 waits an additional cycle (20ms total) to confirm all button readings, storing the confirmed readings in its internal registers for button debouncing.
