Introduction

The gen4 2.4" Picaso Integrated Display Module is part of 4D Systems' latest gen4 series of modules, designed and manufactured to be easily integrated and used, with careful consideration given to space requirements and functionality. This particular gen4 module features a 2.4" color TFT LCD with resistive touch capability. It is powered by the well-known 4D Labs Picaso graphics processor, offering designers, integrators, and users a wide range of features and options. The Picaso processor features 13 configurable GPIOs, 2 serial ports, and a master I2C interface. The 2.4" Picaso Integrated Display Module provides TFT LCD display with touch detection, microSD memory storage, GPIO and communications, multiple millisecond-resolution timers, and audio generation. The gen4 series is 100% compatible with the Workshop4 IDE and its 4 different development environments, giving users extensive options for programming and controlling the system. Any program designed for other 4D Systems display modules equipped with the Picaso graphics processor can run on this gen4 integrated display module with little or no modification. The gen4 series integrated display modules feature a 30-pin ZIF/FFC/FPC socket designed for 30-pin FPC cables, enabling easy connection to an application or host board, or to accessory boards for a range of functional upgrades. The gen4 series modules are designed to minimize the footprint of display-related circuitry and provide a platform suitable for integration into products. If required, an application board can be mounted flush to the rear of the gen4, as the display-related electronics are housed within the plastic mounting base, leaving the application board surface available for user circuitry.
