Introduction

The gen4 4.3-inch Diablo16 Smart Display Module is part of the gen4 series, the latest design and manufacture from 4D Systems. This particular gen4 module features a 4.3-inch color TFT LCD, available in non-touch, resistive touch, or capacitive touch options, with integrated microSD storage, GPIO and communication interfaces, multiple millisecond-resolution timers, and audio generation capability. It is powered by the feature-rich 4D Labs Diablo16 graphics processor, offering designers, integrators, and users an extensive range of functions and options. The Diablo16 processor features 16 configurable GPIO pins supporting PWM, serial, I2C, SPI, pulse output, quadrature input, and analog input. The standalone display also includes a 30-pin ZIF/FFC/FPC socket designed to accept a 30-pin FFC cable, enabling easy and straightforward connection to an application board or motherboard, or to an expansion accessory board for additional functionality. All gen4 series products are designed for full compatibility with the Workshop4 IDE and its four distinct development environments, providing users with the necessary tools and options to program and control the display for their system projects. Any code designed and written for other 4D Systems display modules featuring the Picaso or Diablo16 graphics processor will run on this gen4 Smart Display Module with minimal modification. The gen4 series modules are carefully designed for ease of integration and use, with thoughtful consideration given to space requirements to minimize the footprint of display-related circuitry, allowing an application board to sit flush against the back of the gen4 when needed, as the display-related electronics are housed within the plastic mounting base, leaving a clear board surface for user circuitry.
