Introduction

The EA eDIP series displays are the world's first displays with integrated intelligence. In addition to a variety of integrated fonts usable down to the pixel level, a range of sophisticated graphics functions is provided. They are controlled via one of 3 integrated interfaces (RS-232, SPI, or I²C). The displays are "programmed" using high-level language-style graphics commands, eliminating the time-consuming task of writing character sets and graphics routines. These displays with touch panels are easy to use and can significantly reduce development time. The displays are designed for a supply voltage of +5V. Data transfer can be serial asynchronous in RS-232 format, or synchronous via SPI or I²C. To enhance data security, a simple protocol is used for all transfer types. All versions can be equipped with an integrated touch panel, enabling input, menu, or bar graph settings via touch. Button labels are flexible and can be changed at runtime. The drawing and labeling of individual "buttons" is handled by the integrated software. Depending on the application, an analog resistive version suitable for stylus or thick gloves, or a capacitive version with a scratch-resistant hard glass surface, can be used. All displays feature modern, energy-efficient LED backlighting with brightness adjustable from 0 to 100% via command. The displays are programmed via commands with no additional software or drivers required. Strings and images can be placed with pixel-level precision, text and graphics can be combined at any time, and different character sets can be used simultaneously. Each character set and image can be scaled from 2x to 8x and rotated in 90° steps.
