Introduction

The DMS-20LCD series 3½-digit LCD panel meters combine low cost, low power consumption, compact size, and high performance. Housed in a miniature (1.38" × 0.88" × 0.43") 12-pin DIP package with epoxy encapsulation, they are fully self-contained and functionally complete, offering durability, long-term reliability, and the ease of use associated with discrete components. Each meter integrates a precision reference and a factory-calibrated auto-zero A/D converter, delivering high accuracy (±1 count) in a package only slightly larger than its 0.37"/9.4mm high-contrast LCD display. All models feature a built-in bezel for easy panel or PCB mounting, and are available in backlit and non-backlit versions. The DMS-20LCD offers four differential input voltage ranges (±200mV, ±2V, ±20V, and ±200V) with a user-friendly input architecture. Minimum input impedance is 800kΩ, with a typical CMRR of 86dB at ±2V common-mode voltage. The non-inverting input is protected against overvoltage up to ±100V (±250V for the ±200V input model). All DMS-20LCD meters can be powered from a single +5V supply (400µA consumption) or a single +9V supply/battery (230µA consumption). All models include a low-battery indicator, automatic polarity switching, and over-range indication. An application/evaluation board (DMS-EB2) is also available, which plugs directly into the back of any DMS-20LCD for direct interfacing with common applications such as 4-20mA input, zero/gain adjustment, decimal point position setting, and input voltage division.
