Introduction

IF-E96E is a low-cost, high-speed visible red LED in a "connectorless" plastic optical fiber package. The output spectrum is generated by an AlGaInP chip with a peak at 645 nm, one of the optical transmission windows of PMMA plastic optical fiber. The device package features an internal microlens and a precision-molded PBT housing to maximize light coupling into standard 1000 µm core diameter plastic optical fiber cable. The cost-performance ratio of the IF-E96E is particularly attractive in high-volume design applications. The visible red output exhibits low attenuation in PMMA plastic optical fiber, facilitating installation troubleshooting. When used with the IF-D96 photoelectric logic detector, the IF-E96E supports data rates up to 5 Mbps. Fast switching times and low attenuation make the IF-E96E an ideal device choice for low-cost analog and digital data links up to 75 meters.
