Introduction

Perle SFP optical transceivers are hot-swappable, compact media connectors that provide instant fiber connectivity for network equipment. They offer a cost-effective way to connect a single network device to various fiber cable types over a wide range of distances. By eliminating the need to maintain redundant units/equipment for different fiber types during network maintenance or upgrades, small form-factor pluggable optical transceivers reduce network equipment inventory. SFPs allow a single product to scale flexibly by speed (Fast Ethernet and 1, 10, or 40 Gigabit) and/or distance (220m to 80km). Since SFPs are interchangeable fiber connectors that can accommodate any existing network, network upgrades become significantly easier. For example, a media converter originally deployed on a multimode network can be reconfigured to operate on a CWDM network simply by replacing the pluggable optical transceiver. Perle SFP optical transceivers are compatible and interchangeable across a wide range of Cisco- or MSA-compliant SFP products. They can be mixed and matched on a per-port basis in any combination of 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX/LH, 1000BASE-EX, 1000BASE-ZX, or 1000BASE-BX10-D/U. Perle SFP optical transceivers are designed for use with Perle SFP media converters, industrial Ethernet switches, and third-party equipment supporting SFP transceivers.
