Introduction

This Power over Ethernet module is a legacy Cat5/Cat6 twisted-pair PoE module based on the IEEE 802.3AF Power over Ethernet standard. It is designed to extract power from a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) via standard Cat5/Cat6 twisted-pair Ethernet cables. The module input complies with the IEEE 802.3AF signature detection and classification standard. The module is pre-configured as a Class 1, Class 3 device, allowing it to draw Class 3 power from the PSE with a rated output voltage of 5V. The high-efficiency DC-DC converter achieves greater than 85% efficiency, operates over a wide input voltage range, and delivers low-ripple, low-noise output. The DC-DC converter also features built-in output overload and output short-circuit protection.
