Introduction

This Power over Ethernet module is a legacy Cat 5 and Cat 6 twisted-pair PoE module based on the IEEE 802.3AF standard, designed to extract power from a Power Sourcing Equipment through standard Cat 5 and Cat 6 Ethernet cables. The module input complies with the IEEE 802.3AF signature detection and classification standard, pre-configured as a Type 1 Class 3 device, allowing the module to draw Class 3 power from the PSE with a rated output voltage of 12V. Its high-efficiency DC/DC converter achieves approximately 85% efficiency, operates over a wide input voltage range, and delivers low-ripple, low-noise output. The DC/DC converter also features built-in output overload and output short-circuit protection, along with a 1500 Vdc input/output isolation barrier.
