Introduction

The Altistart 22 soft starter complies with pollution degree 2 as defined in NEMA ICS1-1 or IEC 60664. For environmental pollution degree 3, the Altistart 22 soft starter must be installed in a Type 12 enclosure or an enclosure with IP54 protection rating. To facilitate proper air circulation within the soft starter, grilles and forced ventilation devices can be installed.

Features

• Install the Altistart 22 soft starter within ±10° of vertical.
• Do not install the Altistart 22 soft starter near heat-dissipating components.
• Current flowing through the Altistart 22 soft starter generates heat losses that must be dissipated into the ambient air surrounding the soft starter. To prevent thermal faults, provide adequate cabinet cooling and/or ventilation to limit the ambient temperature around the soft starter.
• When installing multiple soft starters in a control panel, arrange them side by side rather than stacking them. Heat generated by the bottom soft starter can adversely affect the ambient temperature around the top soft starter.
