Introduction

The G2 series dual high-power motor driver board uses paired discrete MOSFET H-bridge designs to drive two large brushed DC motors. Its form factor conforms to the Arduino shield specification, allowing direct insertion into an Arduino or compatible board (e.g., A-Star 32U4 Prime), while all motor driver pins are brought out along the left side of the board, enabling use as a standalone general-purpose motor driver without an Arduino. This version (18v18 motor driver board) operates over a voltage range of 6.5 V to 30 V (maximum; not suitable for 24 V batteries) and can deliver 18 A continuous output current. It features a current sense output proportional to motor current (approximately 20 mV/A; valid only during H-bridge driving) and active current limiting (chopping) with a default threshold of approximately 50 A (adjustable downward). Features common to all versions include: inputs compatible with 1.8 V, 3.3 V, and 5 V logic; PWM operation up to 100 kHz; motor indicator LEDs for output status display; a blue power LED that illuminates at power-on; reverse voltage protection; undervoltage lockout; short-circuit protection; a control interface supporting sign-magnitude or locked-antiphase operation; and an integrated 7.5 V, 1 A switching buck regulator (configurable for 5 V output). The board also includes an optional integrated 7.5 V, 1 A switching buck regulator that can power an inserted Arduino or compatible board, enabling single-supply operation. This regulator is also configurable for 5 V output. Arduino pin mappings are fully customizable.
