Introduction

The PLED series open LED protector provides a switched electronic shunt path when an open-circuit fault occurs in an individual LED within an LED string. This ensures that if a single LED fails, the remaining LEDs in the string continue to operate. The PLED series devices are designed to improve reliability in outdoor LED lighting applications such as street lights, outdoor signage, aircraft runway lighting, roadside warning lights, and similar applications. PLED series devices are compatible with 1W, 2W, and 3W LEDs with a nominal forward voltage of 3V, and are available in two SMT package options: DO-214 and QFN. The thin chip-scale package (CSP) of the QFN is ideal for high-density board applications.
