Introduction

The ADuM4120/ADuM4120-1 are 2 A isolated single-channel gate drivers that provide precision isolation using iCoupler technology. They offer 5 kV rms isolation in a 6-lead wide-body SOIC package with enhanced creepage performance. These isolated devices integrate high-speed CMOS with monolithic transformer technology, delivering superior performance such as the combination of pulse transformer and gate driver in a single component. The input supply voltage range of 2.5 V to 6.5 V during operation ensures compatibility with lower-voltage systems. Compared to gate drivers using high-voltage level-shifting approaches, the ADuM4120/ADuM4120-1 provide true galvanic isolation between input and output. Two versions are available: with and without an input glitch filter. The glitch filter helps reduce the likelihood of input pin noise triggering the output. As a result, the ADuM4120/ADuM4120-1 can reliably control the switching characteristics of IGBT/MOSFET configurations across a wide range of switching voltages.
