Introduction

The HCPL-512x contains a GaAsP LED optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage. This device is ideal for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications. The high operating voltage range of the output stage provides the drive voltage required for gate control devices. The voltage and current provided by this optocoupler make it well suited for directly driving IGBTs rated up to 1200V/100A. For higher-rated IGBTs, the HCPL-512x can be used to drive a discrete power stage, which in turn drives the IGBT gate.

Note that when handling and assembling this component, normal ESD precautions are recommended to prevent damage and/or performance degradation that may be caused by ESD.
